Formations is a multimedia sound art piece that exists as a visual score for live performance and as an image series. The piece explores the frequency relationship between Earth's sonic vibrations, known as the Schumann Resonances, our brain wave states, and cellular development that mimics Earth's electromagnetic field. Cradled in its arms, we live and die to the Earth’s constant vibrational forces, and from the moment of fertilization, these often imperceptible resonances push and pull life’s development.

Made by sending the Schumann Resonance frequencies through a mixture of immiscible fluids, colorings, magnets, and iron filings, the image series materially demonstrates how the oscillation of all things on a macro and microcosmic scale generate the fluid patterns of life itself, which never adhere to a socially constructed binary. Instead, our physical presentations and identities develop, evolve, and adapt within a complex symbiotic network that is fundamentally queer.
