Trust explores the concept of a living score within a queer context by establishing an interactive fluid dialogue between the body and instrumentation. I conceived of Trust and directed this collaboration with choreographer Amanda Addotta, bassist Daniel Filipak, and producer Shawn Dahlhaus to experiment with reading the body as notation and achieve a constantly evolving sound world. Driven by Addotta’s improvised choreography, we developed a gestural musical language in rehearsal with every performance fluidly adapting to her decisions, and her decisions reacting to our performance in the moment.
